More About Occupational Therapy
Every patient receives a personalized plan of care tailored to their specific needs, diagnosis and goals. Beyond treating the immediate injury or condition, our occupational therapists address biomechanics, functional movement and adaptive strategies to help prevent re-injury and support long-term health.
Our services include:
- Functional and biomechanical assessments
- Custom and dynamic splinting
- Education and training for safe return to daily activities
- Collaboration with physical therapy, sports medicine and rehabilitation specialists when needed
Many of our occupational therapists have advanced training and certification in hand therapy (CHT), specializing in rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. We offer custom splinting, targeted exercises and advanced treatment techniques to restore movement and strength following injury, surgery or illness.
Our team works in close collaboration with Core Orthopedics hand surgeons, including Dr. Jessica Peelman and Dr. Roderick Bruno, as well as Core Rheumatologists, to ensure patients receive coordinated, comprehensive care.
Common conditions treated include:
- Fractures and tendon injuries
- Carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes
- Arthritis and tendonitis
- Soft tissue injuries and wound care
- Dupuytren’s disease
To support healing and mobility, our therapists incorporate a variety of advanced treatment approaches, including:
- Graston Technique: A specialized soft tissue mobilization method using stainless steel instruments to detect and treat scar tissue and adhesions in muscles and tendons.
- Myofascial Release: A gentle, hands-on technique applying sustained pressure and stretching to relieve restrictions in connective tissue, reduce pain and improve movement.
- Expertise in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation
- Advanced therapeutic techniques for pain relief and mobility restoration
