Our Visitation Policies
Welcome to Exeter Hospital. We thank you for partnering with us to make sure your visit is safe for you, our patients and the staff.
- Visitors are allowed without restriction. However, at times patient care units and/or patients may have a circumstance that could restrict visitation. If that is the case with your visit, the staff will assist you with delaying the physical visit and offer alternative electronic methods for communication, such as Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp or Messenger.
- With the exception of the Emergency Department, visiting hours are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Within the Emergency Department, visiting hours are not restricted except by clinical and public health constraints.
- For patients receiving palliative care, they (or their support persons, where appropriate) shall be informed of their right to receive visitors 24-hours a day, subject to any clinically necessary or reasonable restrictions or limitations.
- After 8:00 pm, in order for a visitor to gain access to a patient care area, a visitor must report to the Emergency Department (ED), where staff shall enlist the assistance of a Security Officer in obtaining authorization for the visitor to visit a patient.
- In compassionate care situations (including but not limited to end-of-life-situations) decisions about visitation shall be made collaboratively with the healthcare team, patient and loved ones as appropriate, on a case-by-case basis.
