Supportive Cancer Care & Survivorship

Comprehensive Support Throughout Your Cancer Journey

At Exeter Hospital’s Michael & Jeanne Falzone Center for Cancer Care, we understand that healing involves more than medical treatment. Our Supportive Cancer Care and Survivorship programs help patients and families manage the physical, emotional, and social effects of cancer — fostering strength, confidence, and connection at every stage of care.

Cancer Survivorship

Survivorship begins at diagnosis and continues long after treatment ends. Our Survivorship Program helps you transition from active treatment to long-term wellness with guidance, education, and follow-up support.

During your survivorship visit, an oncology nurse practitioner reviews your treatment history, discusses ongoing care, and provides a personalized survivorship care plan with follow-up schedules, lifestyle recommendations, and local resources to help you maintain your health.

Counseling Services for Emotional & Practical Support

Emotional and practical support are essential parts of recovery. Licensed social workers at the Center for Cancer Care offer individual, couples, and family counseling, as well as disease-specific and general support groups. Sessions focus on coping skills, stress management, and emotional healing for patients and caregivers.

Our social workers also assist with financial and insurance questions, referrals for home-care services, along with transportation and other community resources.

For more information about counseling, please call 603-580-7336.

Supportive Cancer Care Programs & Classes

Explore our supportive care programs designed to promote physical recovery, emotional well-being, and long-term health.

Creative Arts & Healing Programs

Our in-house artist offers group or one-on-one creative arts classes to help boost your personal, spiritual, and healing growth.

  • Healing Arts Program: This class is open to all experience levels — you don't have to be a trained artist to participate. It's available to adults interested in learning basic art techniques for personal healing.
  • One-on-One Art Instruction: For patients in active treatment, our in-house artist offers personalized art instruction in painting, drawing and craft projects.

To register for any of our creative arts programs, please call Kathleen Robbins, MFA, at 603-580-7039.

Exercise & Rehabilitation

Mild exercise during and after treatment can reduce fatigue, pain, and depression. We offer:

  • Wellfit Program: A free 10-week session led by trained exercise specialists that combines flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular exercises in a supportive environment.
  • Cancer Rehabilitation: Outpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or for those managing pelvic pain, incontinence, or lymphedema related to treatment.

For details, please call 603-580-6548.

Nutrition Services

People with a diagnosis of cancer often have special dietary concerns. Cancer treatment may cause changes in appetite, taste, or weight, and some supplements can interfere with treatment.

At Exeter Hospital, registered dietitians offer personalized nutrition counseling to help manage side effects, maintain strength, and promote healing during and after cancer treatment. Patients learn to balance calories, protein, and nutrients for energy and recovery.

To schedule an appointment, please call 603-580-7336 to speak with Alyssa Lavoie, RD, LD.

Support Groups

Our social workers host two cancer support groups:

  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Mind, Body, Mend: A psychoeducational series for women 45 years of age and younger with any cancer diagnosis at any stage in their cancer journey.

To learn more or register, please call 603-580-7304.
