Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab
Exeter Hospital's accredited Cardiac Cath Lab provides advanced, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions. Our cardiology team uses the latest techniques to restore blood flow, regulate heart rhythms, and support long-term heart health.
Procedures include:
- Angioplasty & Stenting: Opens blocked arteries with balloons or stents to restore blood flow.
- Cardioversion: Uses medication or electricity to reset abnormal heart rhythms.
- Heart Catheterization: Threads a thin tube into the heart's chambers and blood vessels to gather diagnostic information.
- Implantable Cardiac Monitors: Small devices placed under the skin to track heart rhythms over time.
- Pacemaker & Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Implants: Electronic devices placed under the skin to regulate or correct dangerous heart rhythms.
These interventional and diagnostic services work hand-in-hand with advanced cardiac testing to provide a complete picture of heart health.
Heart Testing & Monitoring
Our cardiac testing and monitoring services help doctors detect heart problems early and create personalized treatment plans. These non-surgical tests are performed by highly trained staff in a safe, supportive environment.
Testing services include:
- Echocardiogram (Echo): Ultrasound imaging that shows how the heart’s chambers, valves, and muscles are functioning.
- Electrocardiogram (EKG): Measures your heart’s electrical signals to detect irregular rhythms.
- Stress Testing: Evaluates how the heart responds during exercise or medication-induced activity.
- Exercise Stress Test: Performed on a treadmill while monitoring the heart with an EKG.
- Nuclear Stress Test: Uses imaging and a safe contrast dye to assess blood flow at rest and during stress.
- Pharmacologic Stress Test: Uses medication to simulate exercise for patients who cannot safely exercise.
- Stress Echo: Combines ultrasound imaging before and after exercise for additional detail.
- Transesophageal Echo (TEE): A specialized ultrasound performed through the esophagus for clearer images.
- Wearable Cardiac Monitors (Event, Zio): Portable devices that record your heart rhythm for up to 30 days.
