At Exeter Hospital, our Emergency Department (ED) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to care for patients of all ages. We partner with local emergency medical services (EMS) to ensure seamless care when patients arrive by ambulance. In some cases, EMS teams can even send electrocardiogram (EKG) results ahead, so our staff is prepared the moment you arrive.
No matter the emergency, our team is ready with advanced technology, emergency specialists, and compassionate care for every patient. As a designated Level III Trauma Center, Exeter Hospital also provides critical care for patients with serious or complex injuries.
From trauma and stroke to pediatric and mental health emergencies, Exeter Hospital offers expert, compassionate care backed by advanced technology and strong community partnerships.
Exeter Hospital is a designated Level III Trauma Center, fully equipped to care for patients with serious or complex injuries. Our team can quickly mobilize specialists in surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, and rehabilitation to deliver lifesaving treatment. This designation reflects our hospital-wide readiness — beginning with EMS providers in the field and continuing through every stage of care.
Exeter Hospital is certified as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by DNV Healthcare, a national accrediting organization. This recognition means our Stroke Team can quickly deliver the right treatment to save lives and limit long-term effects of stroke. Our staff is specially trained to respond rapidly so patients get the care they need without delay.
Exeter Hospital’s Emergency Department is led by board-certified emergency medicine physicians from US Acute Care Solutions (USACS), working with physician assistants, nurses, and support staff. Many of our nurses hold Emergency Nurse Certification (CEN), and we also have Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) available. Mental health counselors from Seacoast Mental Health are on site 24/7, and our collaboration with MassGeneral for Children at Exeter Hospital ensures pediatric patients receive specialized care.
