Restorative Sleep Care for Sleep Disorders

The Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospital offers state-of-the-art procedures and testing services to aid patients in the diagnoses of sleep disorders. We take a multidisciplinary approach to clinical evaluation, diagnostic testing and treatment by working with our team of pulmonary, otolaryngology, neurology, psychiatry, nutrition and cardiology specialists to provide comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders. Our center also provides testing for children ages six to 12 years for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Patients at the Center for Sleep Disorders are offered a full range of behavioral, pharmacological, surgical and device-related therapies to improve the symptoms and long-term health effect.

Sleep Disorders

Getting the appropriate amount and quality of sleep provides mental and physical restoration. Many individuals do not have restorative sleep, which can significantly affect daily functioning and quality of life.

Common Types of Sleep Disorders
  • Obstructive, central and complex sleep apnea (temporary pauses in breathing)
  • Movement disorders (restless leg syndrome — urge to move or rub legs)
  • Insomnia — inability to fall asleep or remain asleep all night
  • Narcolepsy-excessive sleepiness, falling asleep at inappropriate time

Sleep Studies

Coming for a sleep study can often make a patient feel apprehensive. To assist with this, we aim to make our bedrooms spacious, comfortable and relaxing. Our bedrooms are equipped with:

  • Private bathroom
  • Cable TV/computer hookup
  • Double beds
  • Morning refreshments

Our appointment times allow the physician to spend time with each patient to understand their needs and develop a thorough treatment plan.
